Any system that stores energy for a relatively long time and releases it for a short time can be called a pulsed power system. Utilizing a voltage conversion device to transfer the energy from the utility power to a capacitor or inductor for storage, the stored energy is discharged through a pulse to obtain a high power pulse, which is then effectively released to the load.

There are many forms of energy storage in pulsed power technology, including: capacitive energy storage, inductive energy storage, mechanical energy storage, chemical energy storage, etc., of which the more commonly used is capacitive energy storage. ● Energy conversion and storage: the pulse capacitor used has low inductance, long life, high specific energy density, allows high current discharge (close to short circuit) and repetitive frequency operation.
